Shreveport, LA – A strong cold front will sweep through the Ark-La-Tex region Tuesday night, bringing with it the coldest air of the fall season so far, according to the National Weather Service in Shreveport.

Forecasters say temperatures will drop sharply behind the front, with daytime highs Wednesday and Thursday staying well below normal for late October. Overnight lows could dip into the upper 30s across parts of southeast Oklahoma and southwest Arkansas, with lows in the 40s expected across most of Louisiana and east Texas.

The front will move through the area late Tuesday, followed by gusty north winds and much cooler, dry air. High temperatures that have lingered in the 70s and 80s will fall into the 50s and 60s by midweek.

Residents should prepare for brisk mornings and potentially the first light frost in some northern areas by Thursday night. The cooler pattern is expected to persist through the end of the week before moderating over the weekend.
