Louisiana drivers are creeping through a wall of gray this morning as dense fog blankets Lake Charles and surrounding parishes. Visibility has dropped to a quarter mile or less in spots, especially along I-10, I-210, and Highway 14. Headlights glow faintly in the mist, and brake lights appear with little warning.
According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Visibility may fall to one-quarter mile or lower across south-central and southwest Louisiana and into southeast Texas.
Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.
At Lake Charles Regional Airport, visibility recently hovered near 1 mile, but pockets of thicker fog are likely near waterways and low-lying areas. Temperatures sit near 70 degrees with humidity at 100%, a prime setup for lingering fog through midmorning.
Slow down and allow extra distance between vehicles.
A 40% chance of showers continues before late morning, then skies gradually brighten with a high near 77 degrees. Patchy dense fog could redevelop again tonight after 8 p.m., with lows around 65.
Saturday brings another round of showers and thunderstorms after midday, with rain chances near 30%. Some storms could produce brief heavy downpours before cooler air arrives Saturday night.
Sunday turns sunny with a high near 62 degrees, but north winds gust up to 25 mph. Temperatures drop to 39 degrees Sunday night, marking a sharp February cooldown.
Early next week stays sunny and cool, then warming returns by midweek. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across southwest Louisiana.
