Shreveport, Louisiana – Flooding risks aren’t over in northwest Louisiana as spring storms continue to churn through the region this week.
According to the National Weather Service, a Flood Watch remains in effect through 7 a.m. Tuesday, but additional showers and thunderstorms could bring more heavy rain into Shreveport by Wednesday and Thursday. Rain chances dip briefly Wednesday morning, but more unstable air and moisture will fuel storm development through late Thursday, especially in parishes along the I-20 corridor.
By Wednesday, highs return to the low 80s under partly cloudy skies, with just a 20% chance of storms during the day. Storm activity picks up again late Wednesday night into Thursday with increasing rain chances and isolated thunderstorms. A few of these storms may produce localized flooding or strong wind gusts.
Motorists should avoid driving through high water and remain alert on I-20, where slick roads and reduced visibility are expected during heavier downpours. Residents in Caddo and Bossier parishes should charge devices and prepare for possible power interruptions due to gusty winds.
Looking ahead, drier and sunnier conditions are expected to settle in by Saturday, bringing a welcome stretch of spring weather into early next week.
