Shreveport, Louisiana – Triple-digit heat will grip northwest Louisiana Tuesday as heat indices soar to 109° in parts of Shreveport by mid-afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday for much of the region, including Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding parishes. Temperatures will reach 98°F, but humidity will push the “feels like” values into dangerous territory.

The advisory impacts residents near I-49 and I-20 corridors, especially those without reliable access to air conditioning. Prolonged outdoor activity may lead to heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Health officials urge residents to drink water frequently, stay in shaded or air-conditioned areas, and check on elderly neighbors.

Tuesday’s weather brings a slight chance of thunderstorms after 1 p.m., but not enough to break the oppressive heat. Calm wind early will shift to a light southeast breeze in the evening, offering little relief.

Looking Ahead:

  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny and hot again. High: 96°F, heat index near 105°.
  • Thursday: More sun, isolated PM storms. High: 98°F.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny, 97°F, with a 20% storm chance.
  • Saturday: Continued hot, 97°F, slight PM storms.
  • Sunday: No major changes — hot and humid with highs around 97°F.
