Shreveport, Louisiana – Flash flooding, damaging wind gusts, and hail could impact daily life across the ArkLaTex region as a Flood Watch remains in effect through 7 p.m. Thursday and severe storms threaten the area into tonight.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, multiple rounds of heavy rainfall—some with embedded thunderstorms—are expected to push 1 to 3 inches of rain across portions of northwest Louisiana, east Texas, and southwest Arkansas, with isolated areas seeing totals over 4 inches. A Level 1 Severe Weather Risk is also in place, bringing the potential for winds over 60 mph, quarter-sized hail, and localized flash flooding.

Cities including Shreveport, Tyler, Texarkana, Longview, and Natchitoches are at risk for both roadway flooding and power outages as saturated ground struggles to absorb additional rainfall. Flash flooding in low-lying areas, along rivers and creeks, and on urban roads is the primary concern.

Residents are urged to avoid non-essential travel, clear drains, and monitor alerts from local emergency services. Power banks and mobile devices should be charged in case of outages, and alternate routes should be planned for morning and evening commutes.

Warnings remain in effect through Thursday evening, with additional alerts possible as storms continue to develop.
