Lake Charles, La. – Drivers across western Louisiana should brace for slick roads and possible flash flooding as thunderstorms drench the region through Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, a nearly stationary front will continue interacting with a moisture-rich air mass along the Gulf Coast, triggering daily rounds of showers and storms. Flash flooding is possible, especially in areas like Leesville, Oberlin, and Woodville, which remain under a “marginal risk” of excessive rainfall through Thursday.

Localized downpours could lead to flooded streets, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas. Commuters along I-10, U.S. 171, and Highway 190 should stay alert for rapidly changing road conditions. The weather setup is also keeping temperatures below normal, making outdoor plans difficult for most of the week.

Residents in Lake Charles, Beaumont, and Port Arthur are advised to monitor forecasts, avoid water-covered roads, and clear storm drains. Charge devices in case of power disruptions and consider delaying lawn maintenance or outdoor work.

Rain chances stay elevated into the weekend, with more flood advisories possible. Stay tuned to weather.gov/LakeCharles or @NWSLakeCharles for the latest updates.
