Louisiana – Headlights glow across damp streets this morning as dense fog drifts over neighborhoods from Gretna to Lake Pontchartrain. Drivers crossing bridges and low-lying roads near the Mississippi River may encounter rapidly changing visibility during the early commute.
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. across the New Orleans metro. Visibility may drop below a mile in patches, especially near marshes, waterways, and open highways including Interstate 10, U.S. 90, and the Crescent City Connection.
According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans/Baton Rouge, the fog will gradually thin by late morning as temperatures climb. Once the haze lifts, skies turn partly sunny with highs reaching around 82°F, bringing a noticeable burst of early March spring warmth.
A few isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop later today, particularly during the afternoon hours. Rain coverage remains limited, but passing storms could briefly create slick pavement during peak travel times.
Clouds linger tonight as humid Gulf air stays locked over southeast Louisiana. Temperatures remain warm near 69°F, and patchy fog may redevelop toward early morning.
Tuesday continues the warm spring trend with highs near 83°F and intervals of sunshine. Conditions stay mostly dry during the day, although clouds gradually increase ahead of the next storm system.
Meteorologists are closely tracking Wednesday, when rain and thunderstorms become more likely across southern Louisiana. Rain chances increase through the afternoon and evening before showers and breezy conditions spread across the region Wednesday night.
Travel delays are possible if storms arrive during evening commutes. Drivers should allow extra time and keep headlights on during heavier rain.
Cooler air arrives Thursday as the system exits, bringing breezy conditions and a brief drop in temperatures.
