Shreveport, LA — A cold weather advisory is in effect for northwest Louisiana through 9 a.m. Tuesday, bringing freezing temperatures and dangerous wind chills to the area. Residents along the I-20 corridor, including Shreveport, could experience wind chill values as low as 10°F overnight.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), light snow showers may fall overnight, though little to no accumulation is expected. The advisory covers portions of northern Louisiana, southwest Arkansas, and eastern Texas, where very cold conditions pose risks of hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

Travelers on I-20 and I-30 are urged to take precautions. Roads may become slick in isolated areas, especially during the early morning commute. The NWS advises using layers of warm clothing, gloves, and hats to prevent frostbite. Pets should also be brought indoors.

Wednesday will see gradual improvement, with sunny skies and a high of 37°F. However, nighttime temperatures will dip to 19°F, requiring continued caution. By Thursday, warmer conditions are forecast, with highs near 51°F and sunny skies.

Looking ahead, the region is expected to stay dry through the weekend, with highs reaching the mid-50s by Saturday. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates as weather conditions evolve and take action to protect themselves and their property during the cold snap.
