Shreveport, LA – Afternoon storms are expected across southern portions of the Four State Region today, bringing a higher chance of rainfall and lingering summer heat.

According to the National Weather Service Shreveport office, showers and thunderstorms could develop this afternoon along and south of Interstate 20. Rainfall chances are highest in areas like El Dorado, Texarkana, and southern Arkansas, with probabilities climbing above 40% in localized spots.

Temperatures will remain warmer than average for late September, with highs in the lower 90s across much of Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. The heat, combined with incoming moisture, is expected to fuel storm activity through the evening hours.

Forecasters noted that after today’s unsettled weather, the new week should begin with near-normal temperatures and slightly drier conditions. Still, residents should remain alert for sudden downpours that could affect travel and outdoor plans.

The weather service recommends monitoring updates, especially if traveling on I-20 or planning outdoor activities this afternoon and evening.
