Lake Charles, Louisiana – Showers are quickly clearing out this morning, setting the stage for a rapid warm-up that could push parts of Louisiana toward the first 90-degree readings of the year by Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, a departing disturbance is shifting remaining showers north of the I-10 corridor early Monday, with lingering activity near Toledo Bend and into Vernon Parish ending by late morning. Areas south of Alexandria, Lake Charles, and Beaumont will see only isolated rain chances through the afternoon before dry conditions take over.

High pressure builds in from the east starting Monday afternoon, shutting down rain chances across southeast Texas and much of Louisiana through at least Thursday. Temperatures will steadily climb into the mid to upper 80s each afternoon, with increasing humidity making conditions feel even warmer.

Cities including Lafayette, Alexandria, and Lake Charles could approach or reach 90 degrees by Friday afternoon, especially across central Louisiana. Winds remain steady out of the south at 10 to 15 mph, occasionally gusting up to 25 mph.

Drivers early Monday should watch for brief wet roads, but the bigger story shifts to heat and humidity building through the workweek. Additional updates are possible if heat advisories become necessary later this week.

Five Day Forecast for Lake Charles, Louisiana
Monday: High 83–87°F, 30% chance of rain early, clearing by afternoon
Tuesday: High 83–88°F, 0% rain, mostly sunny
