According to the National Weather Service, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT on Monday as the heat index could reach 110°F. Air temperatures will top out near 98°F, with little relief expected overnight. Southwest winds between 5 and 10 mph may offer minimal comfort.

City residents, especially those traveling along I-20 and I-49, should limit outdoor exposure between midday and early evening hours. Wear lightweight clothing, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous activity. Local health officials recommend checking on elderly neighbors and ensuring pets have access to shade and water.

Conditions stay hot through the week. Tuesday and Wednesday will also reach highs near 98°F to 100°F, with nighttime lows only dipping into the upper 70s. Skies remain mostly clear, offering no chance of rain through midweek.

A slight shift appears by Friday, when a 20% chance of showers and storms may bring modest relief. Until then, the risk for heat-related illnesses remains high.
