Baton Rouge, LA – A major traffic disruption is expected in Baton Rouge as both directions of Interstate 110 near the Governor’s Mansion curve will be closed Thursday night.

According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the closure is set to begin at 7 p.m. and is necessary for the removal of a derailed train resting on a railroad bridge above the interstate. The closure will impact I-110 between Capitol Access Road and N. 22nd Street.

DOTD officials said once the train is cleared, bridge inspectors will conduct a thorough safety review of the structure and roadway. The interstate closure is anticipated to last several hours as crews complete the operation and subsequent inspections.

Barring any unforeseen delays, the department expects I-110 to fully reopen by early Saturday morning. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes and monitor real-time traffic updates.
