Thick fog rolled across northern Louisiana early this morning, blanketing fields, bridges, and interstates in a dense, gray stillness that made headlights barely visible through the haze. Visibility in Shreveport and along I-20 dropped to near a quarter mile, leaving morning drivers navigating cautiously through the mist.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. CST for portions of northern Louisiana, southern Arkansas, northeast Texas, and southeast Oklahoma. The advisory includes Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, and Lincoln Parishes, with dense fog expected to lift slowly after sunrise.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use headlights, and maintain distance between vehicles. The fog’s impact is greatest on low-lying routes and bridges, where trapped moisture can make pavement damp and slippery.

Conditions will improve by late morning as temperatures rise into the upper 50s. By Monday, skies turn mostly sunny and mild, with highs near 52°F. Tuesday and Wednesday bring even warmer air — reaching the mid-60s to low-70s — under clear skies and calm winds.

Looking ahead, a shift toward cooler, more seasonal air is expected by late next weekend, as a broad December cold pattern spreads east from the Plains. While Louisiana will stay mostly dry, regions farther north could see light snow develop between December 11–17, marking the start of a wider U.S. winter trend.

Five-Day Outlook (Shreveport, LA):

  • Monday: Mostly sunny, high 52°F, low 35°F.
  • Tuesday: Sunny, high 59°F, low 44°F.
  • Wednesday: Sunny, high 67°F, low 50°F.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, high 71°F, low 42°F.
