Shreveport, LA – Residents across the Four-State region — including parts of Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma — should prepare for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening as a strong weather system sweeps through the area.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather covers the entire Four-State area today. The main threat includes damaging wind gusts, but the tornado threat has expanded slightly from earlier forecasts. Large hail and localized flash flooding are also possible.
Forecasters expect storms to develop early this afternoon and continue through late evening. Timing varies by zone: southeastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas could see storms between 12:00 and 5:00 p.m., southwest Arkansas and east Texas between 2:00 and 8:00 p.m., and central to northeast Louisiana from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m.
The NWS urges residents to have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings and to stay alert for rapidly changing conditions. Power outages and hazardous travel may occur during peak storm activity.
