Shreveport, LA – Temperatures in the mid-90s to lower 100s will combine with high humidity to create dangerously hot and humid conditions today. Heat indices could climb above 110°F across Southeast Oklahoma, East Texas, most of Louisiana, and portions of extreme Southwest Arkansas, where an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect.
According to the US National Weather Service Shreveport, heat indices should climb to between 105 and 109°F across much of Southwest Arkansas and Union Parish, where a Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening. Residents are advised to take precautions against heat exhaustion and heat stroke by staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activities.
The forecast for Shreveport includes a high of 99°F today, with sunny skies. The heat will persist into Thursday with a high of 97°F. Relief may come by Friday as there is a 40% chance of rain and temperatures are expected to drop to a high of 92°F. The weekend continues with a 45% chance of rain on Saturday and a high of 89°F, followed by partly cloudy skies and a high of 92°F on Sunday.
