Harahan, LA – A Harahan man was killed early Friday morning in Jefferson Parish after a crash involving an electric scooter and a Honda SUV.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop B, the crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. Friday on LA 3154 near Citrus Boulevard. Authorities say 32-year-old Christopher Harris was operating an electric scooter and entered the southbound lane of LA 3154 from a parking lot when he was struck by a 2025 Honda CR-V traveling in the same direction.

Harris was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The Honda’s driver was properly restrained and not injured. Troopers noted that the driver showed no signs of impairment and voluntarily submitted a breath sample, which tested below the legal limit. Harris was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.

Louisiana law allows electric scooters and similar low-speed vehicles to operate on roadways, but authorities are reminding the public to follow key safety measures. State police emphasized that such vehicles should not be driven on highways with speed limits exceeding 35 miles per hour, and all traffic laws must be followed. Riders are encouraged to wear helmets, and helmets are mandatory for riders under the age of 17.
