According to the Louisiana State Police, the fatal crash occurred shortly before 10:45 p.m. on Friday near Oliver Wheat Road. Authorities say 47-year-old Matthew Migliore of St. Amant was walking north in the northbound lane of LA 63 when he was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe also traveling north.

Troopers reported that Migliore suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died. The driver of the Chevrolet was properly restrained and did not suffer any injuries. State Police say impairment is not suspected at this time, though routine toxicology samples were collected for further analysis.
