Chackbay, LA – A Houma man was killed in a motorcycle crash Wednesday evening in Lafourche Parish, according to authorities.
According to Louisiana State Police, Troop C responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 307 near Torres Road shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday. Investigators said the crash claimed the life of 56-year-old Corey Sanchez of Houma.
State police reported that preliminary findings showed Sanchez was operating a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on LA Hwy 307 in a left curve when, for reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle left the roadway to the right and came to a stop in a marshy area. Sanchez was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash, but reportedly sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A standard toxicology sample was collected from Sanchez and submitted for analysis as the investigation continues, authorities said.
Louisiana State Police remind all motorists to make safe decisions behind the wheel or handlebars, obeying all traffic signals and signs and never driving while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, as such factors can be the difference between life and death.
