Lake Charles, LA – A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for coastal Louisiana waters, affecting Sabine Lake, Calcasieu Lake, Vermilion and West Cote Blanche Bays, as well as Atchafalaya and East Cote Blanche Bays. The advisory will remain in effect from midnight Tuesday until 10 a.m. CST Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, visibility is expected to drop to 1/4 nautical mile or less, creating hazardous conditions for marine navigation. Mariners are advised to exercise caution while traveling through the affected areas.

Fog-related low visibility can significantly increase the risk of collisions and navigation errors. The NWS recommends using radar and a compass to maintain course and ensuring that all running lights are operational. Proper fog signals should also be used to alert nearby vessels.

Boaters and mariners should consider postponing travel until the advisory expires. Those who must navigate should reduce speed and remain alert for other vessels.

Conditions are expected to improve after 10 a.m. Wednesday as the fog dissipates. However, travelers should continue monitoring local forecasts for any updates regarding visibility and weather conditions in the region.
