Minden, LA – A single-vehicle crash north of Minden claimed the life of a 70-year-old Sibley man on Friday morning. The crash, which occurred around 11:45 a.m. on Dorcheat Road, involved a 2013 Ford pickup driven by John Waldron.
According to Louisiana State Police, Waldron’s vehicle veered off the road for reasons still under investigation and collided with a tree. Waldron, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted that impairment is not suspected, though toxicology samples were collected for analysis.
The Louisiana State Police stressed the importance of wearing seatbelts, citing that they significantly reduce the risk of fatal injuries in crashes. “Ensuring every occupant is properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death,” the agency said.
This tragic accident remains under investigation as police seek to understand what led to Waldron’s vehicle leaving the roadway.
