Slidell, LA – A motorcyclist died Monday after a single-vehicle crash on US Highway 90 in St. Tammany Parish. Troopers responded around 5:30 p.m. to the scene near the East Middle Pearl River Bridge.

Louisiana State Police identified the victim as 64-year-old Roy Provost of Pearl River. Investigators said Provost’s 2006 Harley-Davidson struck an embankment near the closed bridge. The impact ejected Provost from the motorcycle.

Troopers confirmed Provost wore a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash. However, he sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities obtained a routine toxicology sample for further analysis.

Officials urge motorcyclists to prioritize safety by enrolling in certified training courses. They advise riders to avoid risky behaviors, ensure proper vehicle maintenance, and follow traffic laws. According to police, making sound decisions while riding can significantly reduce fatal accidents.
