Louisiana Heat Builds: 88° Highs and Isolated Storms in New Orleans Until Saturday Evening

New Orleans, La. – A muggy start to the weekend could bring passing showers to the New Orleans metro, but most of Saturday will stay dry and warm with highs near 89 degrees. Drivers and outdoor events may see a brief interruption around midday as scattered storms move through.

According to the National Weather Service, storm chances remain low at 20 percent, with activity most likely between noon and 3 p.m. Any rain is expected to be brief, followed by clearing skies into Saturday night. Winds will stay light out of the north at 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday looks brighter, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 88. The dry stretch continues into Monday, where temperatures will hold in the upper 80s but humidity will keep heat index values closer to the mid-90s.

By Tuesday, another round of scattered storms is possible after 1 p.m., with a 30 percent chance of rain. Gusts could reach up to 20 mph during the afternoon, especially near the lakefront and across Jefferson Parish.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated during outdoor plans and prepare for quick downpours today and again on Tuesday. Extended periods of sunshine are expected to dominate the week ahead.
