Lake Charles, LA – Flood warnings remain in effect for parts of southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas as minor river flooding is expected through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, the Sabine River near Deweyville is forecast to rise above its 24-foot flood stage early Sunday, cresting at 24.3 feet by Tuesday morning. Minor lowland flooding is anticipated along the riverbanks.

Meanwhile, the Calcasieu River near White Oak Park is projected to reach flood stage of 2 feet by Sunday morning, with a peak near 2.5 feet Monday afternoon. Water levels are expected to subside below flood stage by early Wednesday. In Lake Charles, the Calcasieu River near Salt Water Barrier will exceed its 4-foot flood stage by early Monday and crest at 4.1 feet Tuesday afternoon.

Residents in low-lying areas, especially near Goos Ferry Road and along the Sabine River, should remain alert for potential flooding impacts. Travel in these regions may be affected due to water-covered roads.

Officials recommend monitoring river gauges and emergency alerts via weather.gov. Secure outdoor belongings, avoid walking or driving through floodwaters, and prepare to relocate if necessary.

The next update from the NWS is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. Saturday.
