Shreveport, LA – Residents across the Four State Region are being warned of elevated fire danger conditions on Sunday, according to the US National Weather Service in Shreveport. The alert covers much of northern Louisiana, southern Arkansas, eastern Texas, and southeast Oklahoma.

According to the Weather Service, dry conditions and gusty northwest winds will combine to create an environment favorable for the rapid spread of wildfires. Winds are expected to reach 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, while relative humidity values may drop to 30%–40% through the mid-morning to early evening hours.

Forecasters urge residents to avoid outdoor burning, secure trailer chains, and properly dispose of cigarettes. Even small sparks can quickly ignite dry grass or brush under these conditions.

The alert remains in effect for Sunday, November 9, with the risk extending across the entire Four State Region. Officials remind the public that wildfires can spread rapidly under these weather conditions and that outdoor fire activity should be postponed until safer conditions return.
