Arcadia, LA – A late-night crash in Bienville Parish left a 27-year-old woman dead Saturday and led to the arrest of the driver, who investigators say was allegedly impaired at the time of the wreck.
According to Louisiana State Police, troopers responded around 10:35 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 155 near Toby Road. The wreck involved a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 33-year-old Tanner Hill of New Port Richey, Florida.
Investigators say Hill was traveling north on Hwy 155 when, for reasons still under review, the truck left the roadway and hit a tree. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Natalie Waller of Bastrop, was properly restrained but suffered fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hill, who was also properly restrained, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
During the investigation, impairment on Hill’s part was suspected, State Police said. Hill was later arrested and booked into the Bienville Parish Jail on a vehicular homicide charge. Toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
State Police noted that alcohol and drug impairment continue to play a major role in deadly crashes across Louisiana. Troopers urged drivers to avoid operating vehicles while impaired, fatigued, or distracted and to follow all traffic laws.
