Shreveport, LA – Unseasonably warm weather will continue across the Four State Region through the Christmas holiday and into the weekend, with near-record high temperatures possible before a gradual cooldown arrives early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, temperatures across Louisiana, East Texas, southern Arkansas, and western Mississippi are expected to remain well above normal through at least Saturday. Daytime highs are forecast to run 15 to 30 degrees above seasonal averages, making this one of the warmest Christmas weeks in recent years for parts of the region.

Forecasters say record high temperatures are possible, especially Friday and Saturday, as a persistent warm air mass remains in place. Overnight lows will also stay mild, limiting any chance for frost or freeze conditions through the holiday.

Looking ahead, a pattern change is possible late Sunday into early next week, when cooler air may begin filtering into the region. While the incoming air mass is not expected to bring record-breaking cold, temperatures should trend closer to normal as the year comes to a close.

Early projections show temperature departures shifting from strongly above normal late this week to slightly below or near normal by Sunday night into Monday, signaling a more seasonable feel heading into the final days of December.

No hazardous winter weather is expected with this transition, but residents may notice a marked difference in morning and afternoon temperatures compared to the unusually warm conditions leading up to Christmas.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to stay updated on forecast changes, especially if making holiday travel plans or planning outdoor activities during the warm stretch.
