Louisiana, East Texas Tornado Outbreak: 10 Tornadoes Confirmed from Beryl’s Remnants

Shreveport, LA – The remnants of Hurricane Beryl unleashed 10 tornadoes across Louisiana and East Texas on Monday, resulting in widespread damage and disruption. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Shreveport, the tornadoes affected various regions, leaving paths of destruction in their wake.

The tornadoes struck multiple parishes in Louisiana, including Western Claiborne, Northern Webster, Bienville, Natchitoches, and Union, as well as parts of East Texas. The tornadoes varied in strength, with several reaching EF-1 and EF-2 ratings.

One of the most significant tornadoes tracked from Dykesville to Eastern Webster Parish, Louisiana. This EF-1 tornado, with peak winds reaching 110 mph, spanned 4.80 miles and had a maximum width of 400 yards. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in this area.

Another EF-1 tornado hit east of Shongaloo, Louisiana, with winds of 95 mph over a 3.94-mile path. In Old Shongaloo/Plainfield, another EF-1 tornado covered 6.52 miles with 105 mph winds. The tornado west of Bienville, Louisiana, also rated EF-1, lasted 3.32 miles with winds of 104 mph. An EF-1 tornado north of Campti, Louisiana, spanned 5.76 miles with 90 mph winds.

East Texas also experienced significant impact from the storm. The tornado that touched down in Longstreet/Four Forks/Bethany, Texas, was rated EF-1, with peak winds of 110 mph. This tornado traveled 2.36 miles, causing notable damage but fortunately no injuries or deaths.

An EF-2 tornado in Laran, Louisiana, with peak winds of 125 mph, traveled 1.48 miles. This tornado caused considerable destruction, highlighting the storm’s severity.

Despite the widespread damage, no injuries or fatalities were reported across the affected regions. The NWS Shreveport continues to assess the storm’s impact, urging residents to remain vigilant and prepared for future severe weather events.
