Shreveport, LA – Severe weather will be possible across the Ark-La-Tex region on Monday, with damaging winds, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall identified as the primary threats. The National Weather Service in Shreveport says the highest risk stretches from Tyler, Texas, to El Dorado, Arkansas, where storms may intensify late Monday afternoon into the overnight hours.
According to the National Weather Service, the region is under a Level 2 of 5 – Slight Risk for severe storms. Forecasters warn that wind gusts of 60 mph or higher will be possible, along with hail up to quarter size or larger. While the tornado threat is low, a brief isolated tornado “cannot be ruled out,” particularly within the core risk zone in East Texas and southern Arkansas.
Storms are expected to develop during the late afternoon before organizing into clusters or lines capable of producing widespread wind damage. Heavy downpours may also trigger localized flooding, especially in areas that experience repeated rounds of storms.
Cities highlighted in the risk area include Shreveport, Bossier City, Longview, Tyler, Natchitoches, Ruston, and El Dorado. The threat may continue past sunset, emphasizing the need for residents to have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight.
The NWS advises those in the region to secure outdoor items, review severe weather safety plans, and monitor forecast updates leading into Monday afternoon.
