Lake Charles, LA – Residents in southwest Louisiana should prepare for dense fog and minor flooding as the first week of February begins. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Monday, while a Flood Warning continues through Thursday for parts of the Calcasieu River.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Lake Charles, visibility could drop to a quarter-mile or less, creating hazardous driving conditions. Officials urge motorists to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra travel time. Meanwhile, flood concerns persist along the Calcasieu River near White Oak Park, with water levels expected to rise to 2.1 feet early Monday afternoon.
The five-day forecast indicates fluctuating temperatures and mostly dry conditions:
• Monday:Patchy morning fog, then sunny with a high near 75°F. South winds at 5-10 mph.
• Tuesday:Mostly cloudy, high of 76°F. Calm winds becoming 5 mph.
• Wednesday:Partly sunny, high of 79°F. South winds 5-10 mphwith gusts up to 20 mph.
• Thursday:Partly sunny, high near 78°F.
• Friday:Mostly cloudy, high of 77°F.
