Sterling, VA – A Sterling man was taken into custody Saturday after deputies allegedly discovered a firearm, drugs, and other items during a proactive patrol in a local business parking lot.
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies encountered four males smoking in the back parking lot of a Sterling business on February 1. When approached, one subject allegedly fled on foot while appearing to reach toward his waistband as if going for a weapon. Deputies said the suspect dropped a loaded firearm during the pursuit before being taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities reported that the recovered evidence included a non-serialized P80-style 9mm pistol loaded with 17 rounds, 17 grams of marijuana products including high-THC vape devices, a digital scale with drug residue, brass knuckles, and a cell phone believed to be used for coordinating transactions.
The suspect, identified as Christopher Claros Rodriguez, 18, of Sterling, was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana Products, Obstruction of Justice, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
The Sheriff’s Office stated the arrest highlights the effectiveness of targeted enforcement at high-crime locations and their continued efforts in combating armed drug trafficking in the community.
