Loudoun County, VA – Just in time for the holiday season, a Loudoun County resident is giving back to local law enforcement in a unique way — through music.

According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), Aldie resident Kevin Dunlap, a drummer and songwriter, recently wrote and released an original song titled “Our Great LCSO” as a tribute to the deputies who serve and protect the county.

Dunlap, a member of the music group Whiskey Valor, said the song was inspired by personal loss. He shared that a friend in another state was killed while serving a warrant, prompting him to reflect on the work and sacrifices made by law enforcement closer to home.

The song highlights Loudoun County’s sense of pride and place, with lyrics referencing local landmarks and communities, including Ashburn, Catoctin, and the county’s wineries. Dunlap said the message reflects what many residents feel — appreciation for the stability and safety provided by deputies across the county.

“This was never meant to be anything commercial,” Dunlap said in a message to the agency. “I just wanted to thank the LCSO for the incredible work you do.”

Sheriff Mike Chapman called the tribute one of the most meaningful surprises he has received during his time in office.

“This song is a wonderful reminder of the bond we share with the community we serve,” Chapman said. “I am grateful to Kevin and his fellow musicians for putting their talent toward something so heartfelt.”

The recognition comes as public trust in the LCSO remains high. A recent countywide survey found that 85% of residents approve of the agency’s public safety efforts. Residents also voted the LCSO as Loudoun’s Favorite Government Agency for the second consecutive year, while Chapman was named the county’s Favorite Public Servant for five straight years.

“Our Great LCSO” is available on Spotify and other major streaming platforms.
