Sterling, VA – A routine traffic stop in the Sugarland Run area of Loudoun County led to a drug and ammunition arrest late last month, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on patrol conducted the stop after observing a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign and make an improper turn on Monday, September 23. During the encounter, deputies determined the driver’s license had been suspended, requiring the vehicle to be towed from the roadway.
While conducting an inventory search prior to towing, deputies allegedly located approximately 3.5 grams of suspected cocaine inside the vehicle. Authorities also reported finding a 30-round Glock magazine loaded with 21 rounds of 9mm ammunition, along with $694 in cash, two cell phones, and marijuana and tobacco.
The driver was identified as Thomas Bryce, 24, of Sterling. He was arrested and charged with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, driving while suspended, failure to stop at a stop sign, and improper turn.
According to authorities, Bryce was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he was held without bond. Court information and a future hearing date were not immediately released.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office reminded drivers that routine traffic enforcement often leads to the discovery of more serious offenses and encouraged residents to follow traffic laws and report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
Anyone with additional information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
