Peotone, IL – A 27-year-old man faces robbery and burglary charges after his arrest in connection to thefts in Peotone and New Lenox.

Authorities arrested Leonard R. Hunter of Chicago on Monday. Police allege he was involved in multiple thefts, including at the Peotone Travel Center and a New Lenox gas station.

Investigators say the January 4 Peotone theft involved a masked suspect grabbing a lottery ticket display while three accomplices held the door open. They fled in a Lincoln SUV.

New Lenox police say a January 10 theft at Food N’ Fuel involved masked suspects stealing liquor, cigarettes, and lottery tickets. One suspect allegedly threatened the clerk before fleeing in a red truck.

Detectives linked the crimes to additional thefts in Chicago and Matteson. Security footage reportedly showed Hunter picking up a rental vehicle and cashing in stolen lottery tickets.

Authorities arrested Hunter in Country Club Hills on January 27. He faces robbery and burglary charges. The investigation remains active.
