Los Angeles, California – Sweltering heat continues to grip Southern California today, with temperatures soaring past 100°F across much of the Los Angeles metro and valleys. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 6 p.m. Wednesday, making this the hottest day of the week before a cooler shift arrives Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Oxnard, highs between 92° and 102°F are expected across Burbank, Van Nuys, Santa Clarita, Pasadena, and along the I-5 corridor. Overnight lows won’t offer much relief, remaining in the upper 60s to low 70s. Officials warn that heat illness remains a serious risk, especially for vulnerable groups, those without A/C, and outdoor workers.
If you’re working outside today, take frequent breaks in shade or A/C, and hydrate constantly. Residents are urged to check on elderly neighbors and avoid peak sun hours between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Keep pets indoors and off hot pavement. Cooling centers are open across L.A. County.
Thursday brings some relief, with highs dropping into the mid-80s and a return to clearer fall-like skies. Expect sunny, dry conditions to hold through the weekend, a welcome shift for outdoor plans or Friday night football.
