Los Angeles, CA – A prolonged stretch of extreme heat will grip Southern California beginning Thursday, with temperatures soaring well into the triple digits from Los Angeles to inland valleys and the Central Coast. The National Weather Service has issued excessive heat warnings through Saturday, urging residents to take precautions.
According to the Los Angeles/Oxnard weather office, highs will climb to 107 degrees in Canoga Park and Lancaster, with Santa Clarita peaking at 104 and Pasadena near 100. Inland Ventura County, including Ojai, could reach 103, while Paso Robles is forecast to top out at 107. Even coastal communities will feel the heat, with Santa Barbara at 82 and Long Beach near 94.
Officials warn of increased risks for heat-related illness, especially for vulnerable populations without reliable cooling. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours. Shifting work or exercise to mornings and evenings is strongly recommended.
The dangerous heat pattern is expected to ease gradually by late weekend, though additional advisories may follow if temperatures remain elevated.
