Los Angeles, CA – Damaging winds could knock out power and make driving hazardous across Los Angeles and Ventura County mountain areas starting early Friday morning, with peak impacts during the daytime hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, a High Wind Warning takes effect at 6 a.m. Friday and continues through 6 p.m. for the western San Gabriel Mountains, Highway 14 corridor, and the Santa Monica Mountains. Wind gusts could reach up to 65 mph, strong enough to bring down trees and power lines.

Areas including Acton, Malibu Bowl, and mountain passes along Highway 14 will face the most dangerous conditions. High-profile vehicles may struggle to maintain control, especially during the late morning and afternoon when winds peak.

In the Santa Susana Mountains, a Wind Advisory begins Thursday evening before escalating into the High Wind Warning Friday morning, signaling worsening conditions overnight into the morning commute.

Residents should secure outdoor items, avoid parking near trees, and prepare for possible outages. Drivers should delay travel through mountain corridors if possible. The strongest winds ease after Friday evening, but additional advisories could follow if conditions persist.
