Los Angeles, CA – Police have arrested a Van Nuys man in connection with a string of arsons in Sherman Oaks. Authorities say the fires occurred in October and targeted vehicles, dumpsters, and a local business.

On October 20, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to several fires near Ventura Boulevard and Kester Street. Investigators identified a suspect in his 40s, later confirmed as 42-year-old Ricardo Villanueva.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Villanueva was arrested on Wednesday during a traffic stop. Officers identified him using a flyer prepared by Major Crimes Division detectives. Villanueva faces alleged charges for arson of a structure and personal property. His bail is set at $230,000.
Officials released a map showing the locations of fires, which included vehicle and dumpster fires along Ventura Boulevard. Detectives are now determining if Villanueva is linked to additional fires reported last week.
Authorities urge anyone with information to contact LAPD’s Major Crimes Division or L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers.
