Los Angeles, CA – A dangerous heat wave will keep much of Southern California sweltering through Tuesday as triple-digit temperatures push across Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Afternoon highs between 96 and 106 degrees are expected in valley and inland communities, while downtown Los Angeles is also under the advisory.

According to the National Weather Service in Oxnard, the heat advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. Monday until 6 p.m. Tuesday. The warning covers the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, the Santa Clarita Valley, and portions of Ventura County, including Oxnard, Simi Valley, Fillmore, and Thousand Oaks. Overnight lows will offer little relief, with temperatures staying in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Officials warn the heat poses the greatest risk for infants, older adults, and anyone without access to air conditioning. Health agencies are urging residents to limit outdoor activity to early mornings or evenings, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors. Cooling centers across Los Angeles County will remain open through the advisory period.

The heat is expected to peak Monday and Tuesday, with only slight relief midweek. The weather service noted the advisory may be extended if dangerous conditions persist into Wednesday.
