Los Angeles, California – Scorching daytime highs are taking over Southern California, with temperatures soaring toward 100°F across Los Angeles and Ventura counties through Thursday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Oxnard, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. Wednesday until 9 p.m. Thursday, covering much of Southwest California, including the Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley, and downtown Los Angeles. Cities like Burbank, Pasadena, and Woodland Hills are among the hardest hit. Officials urge residents to avoid non-essential travel, especially during the peak heat of midday hours.

The heat is especially dangerous for infants, the elderly, and anyone without air conditioning. Those who must be outside should drink water regularly, stay in the shade, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. Interstate 5, U.S. Route 101, and CA-118 may see increased heat-related vehicle issues during afternoon hours.

Thursday will bring similar conditions, with highs near 86°F in central LA and triple digits in outlying valleys. Relief begins Friday, with highs dipping to the upper 70s and patchy morning fog expected.

Looking ahead, Memorial Day weekend brings cooler, more stable conditions, with highs near 79°F and sunny skies returning by Sunday. While no new advisories are issued for the weekend yet, residents should monitor updates for any shifts.
