Baldwin Park, CA – Two drivers were arrested this past weekend after California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers witnessed an illegal street race on Interstate 10 westbound near Francisquito Avenue, according to a release from CHP Baldwin Park.
Officers observed a Maroon Trackhawk SUV and a Tesla Cybertruck weaving through lanes at speeds exceeding 100 mph in an apparent high-speed contest. Both drivers were taken into custody at the scene, and their vehicles were immediately impounded.
CHP officials say the arrests underscore the dangers of street racing, which has led to numerous fatalities and serious crashes across Southern California in recent years. “Street racing isn’t just illegal—it’s deadly,” the department said. “Every reckless contest puts innocent lives at risk.”
The agency added that it will continue strict enforcement along major highways to deter illegal racing activity. Motorists are urged to report dangerous driving behavior and to slow down and arrive alive.
