LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Low clouds drift across downtown towers this morning, diffusing the first light of dawn into a pale, silver haze. The marine layer is back — soft but stubborn — bringing another stretch of classic Southern California fall weather: cool, foggy starts followed by mild, sun-soaked afternoons.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, patchy fog will linger across coastal and valley areas through early Tuesday before clearing by midmorning. Highs will reach the upper 70s across East L.A. and the basin, with calm winds and light surf conditions. The same pattern repeats Wednesday, though patchy drizzle could briefly dampen morning commutes west of I-5 and near LAX before skies brighten by noon.

Drivers along the 101 and 10 freeways should expect reduced visibility early in the day. Use low beams and allow extra space in traffic as wet pavement can make braking slick. Air quality improves with the sea breeze by late afternoon, making for comfortable outdoor conditions through midweek.

By Thursday and Friday, high pressure strengthens inland, lifting marine clouds and ushering in a noticeable warm-up. Highs will rise into the upper 70s to near 80°F by Friday — ideal weather for late October outdoor events, fall festivals, or early Halloween prep.

Looking ahead, the weekend stays pleasant and dry, with highs in the upper 70s and light evening fog returning along the coast. After a foggy start, Los Angeles will ease into a stretch of classic autumn warmth under clear, golden skies.
