Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, with widespread gusts up to 45 mph and isolated gusts reaching 55 mph, especially in mountain passes, foothills, and desert slopes. The strongest winds will impact locations such as the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, Interstate 5 through the Grapevine, Highway 14, Highway 395, Highway 99, and Interstate 15, where hazardous crosswinds may develop suddenly.
These conditions pose a heightened risk for high-profile vehicles, including trucks, RVs, and trailers. Drivers may encounter sudden gusts, reduced vehicle control, and blowing debris, particularly during the late morning and afternoon hours on Wednesday. Motorists are urged to slow down, keep both hands on the wheel, and remain alert for fallen tree limbs or unsecured objects on roadways.
In addition to travel impacts, gusty winds may cause downed tree branches, blowing dust in desert areas, and isolated power outages. Residents are advised to secure outdoor furniture, trash bins, and other loose items to prevent property damage.
