Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has issued new regulations outlining prohibited items for public demonstrations, protests, rallies, and other public assemblies in the city. The updated list specifically targets potentially dangerous objects that could pose safety risks during such events, including bricks, glass bottles, and open flame torches.
According to the department, participants in public gatherings are prohibited from carrying any glass bottles, whether empty or filled, due to their potential to be used as projectiles. Additionally, bricks, rocks, concrete, and other similar objects are banned from being brought to demonstrations, as they could cause harm or damage when thrown.
One of the more concerning items on the list is open flame torches, which include devices that use combustible materials such as gasoline or propane. These items are banned due to the fire hazards they present in crowded public spaces, increasing the risk of injury or property damage.
Other prohibited items include baseball and softball bats, weapons such as firearms and knives, and balloons filled with hazardous substances. The Sheriff’s Department emphasized that any items that could be used for harmful or violent purposes will not be allowed during these events.
The department’s goal is to maintain a safe environment for those participating in public expressions while preventing violence or harm. By regulating the use of these dangerous items, authorities aim to ensure that protests and demonstrations in Los Angeles remain peaceful and secure for everyone involved.
