Los Angeles, CA – Southern California remains under Red Flag Warnings as dry conditions and gusty winds continue through Thursday afternoon. Fire risk remains high, particularly in mountainous regions.
The National Weather Service (NWS) stated Wednesday that most warnings would expire at 6 p.m. Wednesday. However, windier mountain zones will stay under Red Flag conditions until 3 p.m. Thursday due to heightened fire growth risks. Gusts are expected to range from 25 to 40 mph in the mountains, with speeds between 15 and 25 mph in coastal areas.
According to the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard office, the region will experience low humidity levels, ranging from 8 to 20 percent. Overnight recovery will remain poor, increasing the likelihood of rapid fire spread. Hazardous conditions may also create challenges for driving and sea navigation.
The winds are expected to decrease gradually by Thursday afternoon. However, local officials urge residents to remain vigilant. They recommend clearing dry vegetation around properties and having evacuation plans ready in case of emergencies.
Firefighters and emergency personnel remain on high alert as weather conditions persist. Authorities also advise against outdoor burning and other fire-prone activities in high-risk areas.
For updates, residents should monitor local weather alerts and follow emergency management guidelines. Communities in Los Angeles and Ventura counties are particularly at risk during this period of elevated fire danger.
