Lombard, IL – Residents near Yorktown Mall can expect to see increased fire department activity this week as the Lombard Fire Department conducts a scheduled training exercise.

According to the Village of Lombard, the training will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday at the east end of the Yorktown Mall Ring Road, near the AMC Theatre and Westin Hotel. As part of the drill, a 100-foot aerial ladder will be extended, and water will be deployed to simulate real emergency conditions.

Officials emphasized that the event is a routine training exercise and not an emergency. The purpose of the drill is to help firefighters and paramedics maintain readiness and test equipment under simulated emergency scenarios.

“This training reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality service to the community,” village officials stated in the announcement posted Monday morning.

Residents and visitors in the area are advised that fire apparatus and personnel will be present but there is no cause for concern. Traffic around the location may be briefly impacted due to equipment staging, and bystanders are encouraged to observe from a safe distance.

Lombard Fire Department conducts regular drills throughout the year to ensure emergency response teams are prepared to respond effectively to real-world incidents.

This week’s exercise highlights the department’s proactive approach to public safety, continuing its tradition of rigorous training and community assurance.
