Lombard, IL – Nominations are now open for the Village of Lombard’s 20th Annual Senior Man and Woman of the Year Awards, which recognize local seniors who demonstrate exceptional dedication to the community.
According to the Village of Lombard, nominees must be 65 years or older and reside within the incorporated limits of Lombard. To be considered, residents must submit a brief statement of 50 words or less describing why their nominee deserves recognition, along with a short biography. The deadline for submissions is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5.
Trustee Jessie Hammersmith, who chairs the Community Relations Committee, said the program is an opportunity to honor seniors who give their “time, energy and heart to others.” Winners will be selected by the committee on Monday, Sept. 8, and announced publicly.
This year’s honorees will be recognized at the annual Senior Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 1, and will also take part in the 2026 Lilac Time Parade. The awards are designed to celebrate seniors who not only volunteer but also contribute to making Lombard a better place through leadership and service.
Residents can submit nominations by mail to the Village of Lombard, Attention: “Senior of the Year,” 255 E. Wilson, Lombard, IL, 60148, or by email at communications@villageoflombard.org.
