Lombard Firefighters Quickly Control Three-Story Apartment Fire, No Serious Injuries

Lombard, IL – A fire in a three-story apartment building on the 500 block of Woodland Avenue prompted a swift response from the Lombard Fire Department on Thursday evening. The fire was reported at approximately 8:36 p.m., with dispatch noting multiple calls about heavy smoke on the first floor.

According to the Lombard Fire Department, the first crew arrived on scene at 8:41 p.m. and confirmed heavy smoke. Firefighters quickly deployed multiple hose lines and began searching for the source of the fire. Additional mutual aid crews assisted with search and rescue operations and hose line placement. The fire was located in a bedroom closet and extinguished within 10 minutes, preventing further damage to nearby units.

No injuries were reported among residents or firefighters. However, one civilian sustained a minor hand injury, was evaluated by paramedics, and declined further treatment or transport. The estimated damage from the fire is approximately $30,000. The Lombard Fire Investigations Unit is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
