Lombard, Ill. — The Lombard Cycling Classic is less than one week away. The Village of Lombard has shared everything residents need to know about road closures, detours, parking and more.
On Tuesday, July 22, the Lombard Cycling Classic kicks off in downtown Lombard with road closures to begin at 4:30 a.m. Certain roads will be blocked off for the race route, and the Village will have detours available. St. Charles Road will be closed from Elizabeth through Main Street, including the St. Charles and Main intersection. The underpass at Main Street and the track crossing at Elizabeth Street will also be closed. The Village said drivers should use the Crescent Boulevard or Grace Street crossings instead. Traffic for St. Charles Road both directions will be detoured to Grove Street north. Main Street traffic will go east to Grace Street. The final race ends at 8:15 p.m. and roads will reopen at 10:00 p.m.
Parking will be available for visitors in the Parkside Metra Commuter Parking Lot, located south of the train tracks. There will also be on-street parking in the area around the bike race. Residents and business staff who usually park in the closed off area will need to find alternate places to park on Tuesday.
The Lombard Cycling Classic is part of the 10-day Intelligentsia Cup Chicago. This cycling event series takes place from July 19 to July 22 at locations in the Chicago area. It is hosted by the DuPage County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Several hundred professional and amateur riders will take to the streets on the course through downtown Lombard.
Along with the bike races, residents can explore the downtown area and enjoy shopping and dining at local businesses.
