Logansport, IN – Rain will overspread Cass County within the next few hours, and isolated thunderstorms could rumble across US-24 and US-35 before midnight, creating slick roads for late-night drivers.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, rain chances climb to 90% across northern portions of the county tonight, with lower but steady coverage farther south. Temperatures will stay mild, holding between 41 and 50 degrees overnight. While severe weather is not expected, a few storms could produce gusty winds capable of blowing around unsecured objects.

Periods of rain continue Wednesday with highs warming into the 60s, including 62 to 68 degrees across north-central Indiana. Showers may briefly ease during the day before another round of scattered thunderstorms develops late Thursday into Thursday night. Rain chances Thursday range from 60% in northeast sections to 40% southwest, with highs between 53 and 64 degrees.

Drivers along US-24, State Road 25 and US-421 should watch for ponding on low-lying stretches, especially during heavier downpours tonight and again late Thursday. Reduced visibility and wet pavement could impact both the Wednesday morning and Thursday evening commutes.

By Friday, colder air pushes in, trimming highs back to the 40s north and near 50 south. Showers taper, but damp roads may linger into early Friday morning. Additional updates are possible if thunderstorm coverage increases late Thursday night.
