Logansport, IN – A 39-year-old man was taken into custody Monday night in Logansport, Indiana, after allegedly stabbing a 63-year-old man near a downtown sidewalk bench.
According to a press release from the Logansport Police Department, officers were dispatched around 8:38 p.m. to the intersection of 6th Street and North Street after a report of a man threatening another individual with a knife. While en route, Cass County Dispatch updated officers that the suspect had been seen walking eastbound in the 600 block of East Broadway, where he allegedly stabbed the older man near a park bench.
Responding officers took the 39-year-old male into custody immediately upon arrival. The 63-year-old victim, who reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds, was initially transported to Parkview Hospital in Logansport and later flown to Parkview in Fort Wayne. He was listed in critical but stable condition as of the time of the police statement.
The suspect was charged with Level 3 felony assault with a deadly weapon and Level 5 felony intimidation with a deadly weapon. His identity has not yet been released.
The Logansport Police Department confirmed it received assistance from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Logansport Fire Department, Cass County EMS, and Parkview Hospital personnel in response to the incident.
